A New Beginning for Book Latte Cafe

Last December 20, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog personally graced the formal opening of Book Latte Cafe in its new location at the Paseo de Iloilo of Robinson's Place in De Leon st., Iloilo City. It's been a few months since my favorite cafe for the longest time has been closed for renovation. Back in 2011 when I was still in college, Book Latte has been one of my favored destinations for hanging out or studying; it was then located at Lucio Lim building where you wouldn't expect a coffeeshop to exist beside an appliance store in Quezon st. near the mall entrance.

After meeting Ms. Tina, the cafe's new owner and their staff- I became close to everyone even their most loyal customers. From 2012 to 2014, the cafe has been one of my most-visited places here in the city. It has become a haven for me to appreciate art, travel and other topics that can be read in their book and magazines. Not to mention that Chef Red Zamora who used to work in an internationally-acclaimed hotel in Cebu has been creating the most enticing, flavorful and delicious plates of goodness that one can simply look forward to in a decent cafe.

Before brunchin' became a big hit in the city lately, I have been enjoying the crisp but smooth on the inside belgian waffle topped with butter and other heavenly ingredients as well as the other customers who found solace in this humble cafe tucked inside the building with trucks and tricycles outside.

Now in it's new location, our favorite cafe will surely give a boost of confidence and pride to its small community of coffee lovers who are members  and the new set of customers who wish to try the Book Latte experience.

Congratulations once again to the management and staff of Book Latte! I will surely look forward to more memorable moments, mouthwatering food and in trying out their freshly-brewed "fruity" coffee.

Z-Burger Bar & Lounge

One of the newest hangouts in the City of Love that I would surely recommend is Z-Burger located on the 2nd floor of Westland Gateway Complex in Donato Pison Avenue, San Rafael, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. It's not really hard to find because it's just upstairs of the iconic Desserts in the Sky Cafe located also in the building. From the Diversion Road just turn right towards the Pison Chimney Monument, but before you can actually reach the iconic centerpiece you will see on your left the big white commercial building with different restaurants.

This place is definitely located in one of the city's new growth areas in Mandurriao and people really go there to have a taste of their burgers. Thanks to Sir Paolo, Maam Mara and Irvin for having me before their formal opening. I went there last month on their opening time of 10 in the morning and had pressed coffee for a start.
I was also surprised to know that they also owned Zatazza Cafe in Jaro, one of my frequently-visited cafes around my neighborhood since college days. Now I know where the "Z" came from! The first burger that I tasted was their Brunch Burger, it was my personal choice because BRUNCH is "in" nowadays in the city.

Aside from their delightful burgers, their pastas are also must-try. If you can't simply decide to have white or red sauce on your pasta, just order this Half-Half Pasta. It's a combination that you surely don't want to miss.

Visit Z-Burger Bar and Lounge if you want to have a great time with friends over sumptuous dishes and a cozy ambiance. Their food is reasonably-priced and really mouthwatering too. They are open from 10AM-10PM.

Ole Restaurant Iloilo

Ole Spanish Tapas Bar & Restaurant was opened by Mr. Steve Zafir and wife Anna more than 10 years ago in the paradise island of Boracay. After a decade of serving sumptuous and delectable Hispanic dishes in the island, the couple decided to open a branch in the regional center of Western Visayas here in Iloilo City. The couple and their son, Kyle have become good friends to me after we were introduced to each other by my good friend Mr. Dennis Mallada who is now based in Taif, Saudi Arabia. Before their formal opening, the owners have faced several challenges from the construction to the operation of the restaurant itself. Now that they have started operating even before the Dinagyang Festival, I'm sure all their sacrifices and struggles have paid off.
After the Dinagyang Festival, the formal opening was headed by Mr. Ding Co, the Executive Assistant for Tourism of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and the Number City Councilor, Hon. Lex Tupas. Dr. Candice Tupas and her kids were also there to join Councilor Lex. The gorgeous couple Mr. Francis Maravilla and Sam Jalandoni was also joined by their friend Mr. Gerry Sansolis.

Come to OLE Spanish Restaurant at the 3rd Floor of Robinson's Place Iloilo near DFA and savour their bestsellers such as the Paella Negra, Fajitas, OLE Tabla Special, Nachos, Sangria drink and many more!
