Namie Japanese Restaurant

Just had Japanese lunch for today at Namie in Brgy. Mabolo, Delgado street in the City Proper. It's been more than a year since the last time I ate here. But believe me, one of the most frequently-asked questions that I always get is "where is the best Japanese food in Iloilo City", lo and behold, whenever I throw the question to other friends, most of them would answer, Namie!

My good friend, Ms. Tweety Tupas-Balleza brought her son, Nico and friend, Ms. Pearl to our catching-up lunchdate today. It was really a great dining experience.

These are some of their decorations that add up to the Japanese-dining experience. The place is well-lit and the staff said that they have been operating in the place for more than 5 years already.

The Bento Box to die for!

Mr. Dac's Kutsinta

I must admit hearing Dac's kutsinta as one of the best from my food blogging mentor, Nong Jorry several times but have not tried it personally. Yesterday, Krishia and I were just killing time so we decided to go around and tried eating at Dac's. But unfortunately, they ran out of kutsinta. It is located at Osmena st. in a corner of Plaza Arevalo facing the Camina Bahay na Bato. It's actually just a small house with some space just enough for a few customers. The kitchen can be seen from the dining area. Their staff were all busy because after a few minutes when we arrived, several customers also came to dine in or take-out some of their available goodies such as puto, spaghetti, palabok, burgers and pizza.

I was a bit surprised to find out that our bill was just 94.00. (softdrinks included). SO I just bought a plate of puto cheese and a piece of burger for my father. The whole humble setting didn't bother us at all to try their good food. And with the number of sukis or regular customers thet Dac's has, it has truly become an icon in the district. A place of its own where people identify it as a destination for delicious and affordable comfort food. Contact No. is 336-4063.

Tricky's Coffee+Treats

I went to SHOPS @ Atria again this morning for a brief meeting. It was then 11 and I just decided to try the food at Tricky's beside San Jose Cafe where we ate last Friday night. If you're a Tea person, you will surely love their Tea sets. I hope a tea store opens up soon in Iloilo. Anyways, back to Tricky's, I think they'll have to add more decorations in their cafe because the walls still had no life, I wish they could add some stickers to their glass and make it more attractive. The price of their food were ok. I was delighted by their chicken dish. Their lunch specials (beef, chicken and pork) are prepared well each day. As of today, they open from 8AM to 6PM.

San Jose Cafe

One of the biggest developing townships in Iloilo City's new business district in Mandurriao is Atria Park District owned by Ayala Corporation- the country's largest property developer. After their launching and groundbreaking in the past years, construction of hotels, condominiums, retail and other establishments in the area has commenced. It was late last year when Qualimed Hospital Iloilo completed and opened. Located on the ground floor of the building (no need to go inside the hospital), facing THE SHOPS by Ayala main entrance is San Jose Cafe. It was just opened last week and is the first cafe in the township. This April, The Shops will also be opened and we will see more food and other stores in the area.

The food and drinks were all great. The milkfish, one of their all-day breakfast meals really stood out for me. I had melon slush. Each b'fast meal had a slice of ripe and sweet mangoes. The place has a nice ambiance, great for hanging out with friends, most especially at night.

An Organic Food Fest at The Orchard Valley

Last March 12, I celebrated my birthday in a special way- at the Farm. The management of Orchard Valley Organic Farm in Tigum, Pavia invited guests to the blessing of their Training Center and Dormitory. It was indeed a unique way to spend one's birthday in that place but was truly worthwhile and memorable thanks to the company of friends and the fresh feast of organic food served to us.
The company takes pride in having the only organic farm in Iloilo that's certified by the Department of Agriculture. We were able to tour the farm several times before and there's just something new every time we return. The farm's produce are always the star during gatherings.
Fresh strawberries from Bucari, Leon and some grapes.
Bucayo (sweetened coconut meat) crepes
Meatless appetizers don't have to be so boring- a bit of these spicy bruscetta are definitely worth the try.
Carrot and Malunggay Muffins
Lamb Burgers
Kamote fries
Not a big fan of squash but for me, this Squash Triffle really stood out from the rest.

Devil's egg
Inside the Training Center that was built from recyclable materials. Coffeebreak cafe was also there to serve guests their favorite drinks.
